DHAKA: Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Tuesday said Bangladesh progressed a lot and it would not be run by following the prescription of the World Bank.
“It is not important whatever World Bank said about Bangladesh rather it is important what we are doing,” he said.
Joy came up with the observation while addressing a view exchange meeting at Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology office in the city.
Regarding World Bank loan at Kaliakoir Hi-Tech IT Park, he said, “The World Bank gives us loan imposing conditions. We repay the loan with interest.”
He also observed that Bangladesh is not a poor county and it has already reached stable condition of the economy.
Joy reiterated: “If world bank does not gives loan then Bangladesh will work with its own fund but if it gives the loan works will be implemented with our own choices.”
