A case has been filed against 100 people over the attack on National Citizens’ Party (NCP) southern region organiser Hasnat Abdullah in Gazipur. 

Several unidentified people were also accused in the case.

The case was lodged on Monday (May 5) evening by Al Amin, a Gazipur district member of NCP, at Basan Police Station.

According to Md Shahin Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Basan Police Station, the attack took place on Sunday (May 4) evening when Hasnat Abdullah was travelling from Gazipur to Dhaka. As his vehicle reached the Chandana Chowrasta area, a group of attackers on motorcycles assaulted him.

Following the incident, Gazipur Metropolitan Police launched a drive and detained 43 individuals. Police said further investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the remaining suspects.
