AL’s hartal observed in Damurhuda

CHUADANGA: Half-day hartal, called by ruling Awami League, demanding the recount of ballot papers and withdrawal of UNO, was observed in Damurhuda of the district.

Activist of Awami League and its associate organizations brought out processions and conducted picketing at the town during the hartal hours.

The activists chanted slogans against Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Faridur Rahman and Sadar Union’s Jammat-backed chairman Milton.

Transports to and from Jibonnagar, Kaliganj, Jessore, Chuadanga and Darshana were suspended during the hartal and shops were closed at the town

Additional police forces were deployed in several places, including UNO office.

Police said no violence was reported and the situation was under control.
