Police arrested former lawmaker and Awami League leader Laila Parvin Sejuti early today in Satkhira under the Special Powers Act 1974.

Shaminul Huq, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station confirmed the matter. 

A joint team from Satkhira Sadar Police Station and the Detective Branch detained her from her residence in the Itagacha area around 2:30am, he said.

She was accused in a case filed on February 18 for allegedly planning and financing sabotage, with initial investigation confirming the charges.
