DHAKA: Strong mass-media is needed for democracy, said information minister Hasanul Haque Inu.
The minister said as chief guest at daily ‘Ajker Patrika’ logo inauguration program on Monday.
He said democracy needs strong mass-media because it is considered as the fourth pillar of the democracy.
Terming mass-media as a mirror of democracy, the minister said that if the mirror is not clean then the journey of democracy will not be spotless.
He also said, “We have yet to get real democracy. We are on a stage to democracy. In this situation, mass-media can play the right role to our journey to democracy.”
‘Ajker Patrika’ editor and also publisher Shafikul Islam at the ceremony said they are committed to provide neutral information.
Among others, rail minister Mujibul Haque, National parliament whip Sahabuddin, journalist-columnist Sadeq Khan, ‘Amader Arthaniti’ editor Nayeemul Islam Khan and ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ executive editor Pir Habibur Rahman attended the program.
