BRAHMANBARIA: Police, in a drive, held 20 Shibir activists from Kazipara area in the district town Saturday.  

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Sadar thana police, raided Khandakar Mansion, known as a Shibir den at about 12:30pm and arrested the student politicos.

“Being informed that two shibir leaders from Dhaka were holding meeting with local activists of shibir, the student wing of Jamaat, police cordoned off the house and held them,” Sadar thana OC Hamidul Islam said.

The detained are Shibbir Ahmed and Lokman Hossain, who came from Dhaka, district Shibir Secretary Rashedul Karim Rana, town unit Secretary Khaled Saifullah, activists Rahmatullah, Ziaul Haq, Shakil, Rahat, Ali Imran, Sheikh Maqbul Hossain, Selim Mia, Sohel Islam, Abdul Hamid, Nasir Uddin, Noman Mia, Faroque Mia, Anas Mia, Abdul Al Hossain, Musa Mia, Billal Mia and Abedur Rahman.

They are being interrogated, police said.
