NOAKHALI: At least 10 people were injured in a clash between police and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir in Sonaimuri upazila of the district on Monday morning.
Sources said that Jamaat-Shibir men tried to bring out a procession in the area. On information, police tried to disperse them which triggered a clash around 10:00am.
At one stage, police fired six-round shot gun bullets to bring the situation under control, leaving 10 people injured.
Later, law enforcers detained seven Jamaat-Shibir men from the spot.
Sonaimuri Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdus Samad confirmed the matter to banglanews.
