BNP man chopped dead in Magura

MAGURA: Awami League supporters on Friday chopped a BNP supporter to death over a dispute centering recent Upazila Parishad elections in the Sadar upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Omar Ali, 45, hailed from Malonchi village of the upazila.

Local sources said that following a dispute over polls, BNP-backed Tojam group attacked and vandalized houses of AL-backed Obaidur group.

In consequence of that clash, AL supporters chopped Omar Ali when found him alone on Friday noon.

Confirming the matter, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Magura Sudarshan Kumar Roy told banglanews that police sent the body to Magura Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

A murder case also was filed with the Thana, he added.
