DHAKA: Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) locked into a scuffle with police in front Press Club in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
The brawl erupted a few moments after party’s chairperson reached there to participate in the mass hunger strike of her party protesting countrywide ‘forced disappearance and killings’.
The scuffle halted vehicular movement through the area which created traffic congestion.
BNP started countrywide mass hunger strike at 9:15am Sunday and ended at 5:00pm.
BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Vice Chairman Mirza Abbas, Publicity Secretary and former BNP Chief Whip Joynal Abdin Farroque already joined the programme.
Party leaders and activists of districts, upazilas and metropolitan levels also observed hunger strike.
