Jhenidah BNP man hacked dead

JHENIDAH: Miscreants hacked to death a local leader of BNP in Kaliganj upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Ismail Hossin, 48, son of former mayor Abdul Mannan of Chapali area of the district town.

Ismail was the president of Ward No.1 unit of Kaliganj Pourashava unit of BNP, said BNP Kaliganj unit general secretary Aynal.

Miscreants chopped Ismail near a bridge adjoining to Nimtala Bus Stand of the upazila at 8:30am, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to Upazila Health Complex and later following deterioration of his condition, he was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 9:15am.

Kaliganj Thana Officer-In-Charge Anwar Hossain said, “Ismail was attacked on his way home from the town in the morning.”

BNP lawmaker Shahiduzzaman Beltu of the constituency confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Aynal, however, alleged that Awami league men killed Ismail.
