Ekram murder accused Minar remanded

FENI: A district court on Wednesday placed Mahatab Uddin Minar, main accused in Fulgazi chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram murder case, on 7-day remand. 

Senior Judicial Magistrate Khairul Amin passed the order at 5:00pm.

Earlier, police arrested Minar, the main accused of the case from Dhaka on Tuesday. The arrestee is a BNP-backed candidate on Fulgazi upazila election.

Ziaul Haque Selim, elder brother of Ekramul, filed a case against 16 people accusing Mahatab as main with Feni Model Thana on May 20 at 12:00am.

Police also arrested Abid, Gazi Salam Mahmud, Zahid, Sajal Islam Shipon, Sazzadul Islam Shifat, Chowdhury Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Jahidul Hasan Shorav and Helal Uddin who were arrested from Dhaka and Shiblu, son of Counselor Abdullah Mahmud, Abdur Rab, general secretary of Kazirbag union AL unit of Sadar upazila and Sazib were held from Feni district in connection of the case.

On May 20, Ekramul Haque was shot and burnt to death by miscreants.

Three others, who were on the vehicle, were also critically burnt in the incident that took place in front of Bilash Cinema Hall in Academy area.
