LONDON: BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman began signatures campaign in London for disbanding the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
Tarique inaugurated the campaign, on behalf of his party, by giving his sign on the campaign book on Wednesday evening local time there.
Addressing the function, Tarique Rahman said, “Law and order situation were normal during the tenure of BNP government, but today the law enforcing agencies are destroying everything, let alone to keep the situations normal.”
He urged for immediate disband of RAB force.
“Not only RAB members are involved in the seven-murder in Narayanganj, but also Prime Minister Shikeh Hasina is also involved in it,” Tarique alleged.
He went on saying “Shamim Osman talked to Sheikh Hasina just after the killing, so we have to understand that mystery lies there.”
Disbanding of RAB is the demands of time, claimed Tarique.
He said, “Today, the nation is united in demand of abolishing this (RAB) force for sake of the people’s interest”.
“Those will not join in this movement and stay inside homes fearing the cadres of Awami League, (they) will do a grave mistake” added Tarique.
He urged all to take part in the signatures campaign programme
Tarique came up with the remarks when addressing a function to mark BNP’s founder Ziaur Rahman’s 33rd death anniversary as the chief guest at a banqueting hall at Alford in greater London.
The UK unit of BNP organized the function where he launched the signature campaign.
