FROM THE RALLY (JOYPURHAT): BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday said her party would wage movement after Eid-ul-Fitre to oust the government.
“The illegal government is involved in all sorts of misdeeds. We will wage the movement to oust the government after Eid through the movement,” she said.
The former premier of the country was addressing a rally at Ramdao Government Bazla School ground in the district.
She said, “This illegal government forced people not to cast vote, so new election has to be held under neutral government.”
The BNP chief said, “The foreign countries asked the AL government to sit for dialogue, sit for talks because we (BNP) are the largest party of the country. So, they have to talk to us and election will be held under the non-partisan government.”
She also claimed the Awami League government is corrupted one. “They have stolen from people’s money, from Padma Bridge, quick rental, share market, and from the different institutions and sent those money abroad, deposited it at the Swiss banks,” she said.
Criticizing the Anti-Corruption Commission, she said, “The ACC keeps their eyes closed. They are one-eyed. AL men are doing corruption and laundering money but they (ACC) do not see it in their eyes.”
Regarding Kalshi tragedy, she said the government and its local lawmaker of ruling Awami League are involved in the incident.
She said, “BNP is the real people’s representative and for this reason people gave their verdict in favor of BNP by not casting votes in the January 5 polls.”
The rally began at 2:30pm there and Khaleda’s caravan arrived at the playground at 3:25pm, which left Bogra Circuit House at 2:00pm.
District president of BNP Mojahar Ali presided over the rally where the local leaders gave their speeches.
Earlier, Khaleda joined a rally in the Circuit House at 1:40pm where she said the governance system has broken down in the country as the incumbent government is working for their own interest.
Khaleda, addressing the rally, accused the incumbent government of becoming busy with kidnapping and murdering and having no time for people.
She handed over a cheque of Tk 1 lakh to Abdur Razzak, father of slain Jubo Dal leader Yusuf Ali Mondol, who was killed in political violence on December 26, 2013.
