DHAKA: Terming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ‘neo-autocrat’, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday urged countrymen to take oath not to spare her and force her to arrange a universally acceptable election.
The senior BNP leader made the assertions in a discussion on ‘Ganatantra Mukti Dibosh’ (Freedom of Democracy Day) at National Press Club Auditorium in city.
Claiming that Bangladesh is now in immense crisis, Fakhrul said the people should stand against the killing by Awami league (AL)-led government.
He further said incumbent government finds conspiracy in everything as it is having nightmares now. Moreover, they fear that they could be ousted anytime.
Fakhrul said the AL-led government wants to remain in power through the voter-less January 5 national election. But, the people will resist them taking oath on this ‘Ganatantra Mukti Dibosh’.
BNP publicity secretary Zainul Abedin Faruq presided over the programme where party’s standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, joint secretary general Amanullah Aman, International Affairs Secretary Nazim Uddin Alam among others were present.
