DHAKA: Local units of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its different front organizations separately called daylong hartal for Tuesday in nine districts amid the non-stop countrywide blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

The districts are Gazipur, Mymensingh, Feni, Noakhali, Sunamganj, Chapainawabganj, Magura, Chuadanga and Bogra.

Sources said the hartal would be observed from 6:00am to 6:00pm in the districts on the day.

However, the hartal has been called protesting the confinement of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office and detention of senior BNP leaders along with filing cases against senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.

Banglanews correspondents from respective districts said that the top leaders of BNP’s district units confirmed the hartal.

BNP is observing the hartal protesting its chief Khaleda Zia’s confinement at her Gulshan political office for last nine consecutive days.
