Hasina be hated for her comments about Khaleda, says Moudud

DHAKA:  BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed said Wednesday that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be hated for her comments about leader of the opposition and ex-premier Begum Khaleda Zia.

The opposition lawmaker and ex-law minister came up with the criticism while taking part in a human chain formed by lawmakers of BNP in front of the national press club for half an hour in protest against Sheikh Hasina’s remarks.

Sixteen BNP lawmakers headed by Chief Whip of the opposition Joynul Abdin Farook joined the human-chain demo.

They included Abul Khayer Bhuiyan, Mesbahuddin Farhad, Zafrul Islam Chowdhury, Abdul Momin Talukder Khoka, ZI Mostafa Ali, Mostafa Kamal Pasha, Syed Papiya Ashrafi, Nilufar Yasmin Moni, Shammi Akhter and Rehana Akhter Banu.

Moudud Ahmed said, “The nation does not expect such indecent comments from a prime minister towards a three-time former prime minister.”

He added: “The countrymen would learn many things from speech of the prime minister. What the nation can expect from a prime minister after hearing such remarks?”

Speaking at the human chain, the chief whip said, “We hope Sheikh Hasina will not make such remark in future, because she is the prime minister of the country. Such comments are not acceptable from any respectable person towards another venerable one.
“We are strongly protesting it.”

On August 1, Sheikh Hasina, while speaking at a discussion meeting arranged in connection with the August 15 tragedy,  asked her political archrival, Khaleda, to nose down for her alleged corruption.

Earlier, BNP had held protest meeting at Muktangon and several other programmes protesting the remark.
