DHAKA: Members of Bangladesh Transport Workers League on Sunday demanded the government to arrest BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The rally was organized in front of National Press Club in the city as a part of the protest against ongoing nationwide hartal and blockade.
Speakers at the rally said that people of the country are infuriated against the prevailing hartal and blockade. They also wanted the arrest of BNP chief Khaleda Zia for her alleged provocation to violence.
After the rally, they submitted a memorandum to Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina on behalf of the nation to arrest the BNP chief.
The transport leaders also said that if Khaleda Zia is not arrested by February 15, then they will place a memorandum to the President Abdul Hamid on the following day.
Transport Workers League leaders Mohammad Yusuf Ali, Rafiqul Islam, Nazrul Islam Khan, Abdus Sattar Mallik, Mizanur Rahman, among others, were present at the rally, chaired by organization president Mohammad Wahiduzzaman.
