DHAKA: The ruling Awami League (AL)-led 14-party alliance asked the government to take tougher actions against BNP-led 20-party alliance for killing people during the ongoing hartal and blockade.
They made the plea Sunday afternoon while forming a human chain in the capital as part of the countrywide protest program.
However, the 14-party leaders and activists formed the human chain around 3:00pm linking Gabtoli bus stand with Jatrabari, from the western end of the city to its eastern point.
Senior alliance leaders took part in the human chain, which continued till 4:00pm, carrying banners and festoons and chanting slogans.
They, while addressing the human chain, commented that the way, the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has chosen to assume power, is absolutely wrong.
She is burning people to death in the name of political movement, they added.
According to them, the authorities concerned should draft a new law and establish a new force to allay the prevailing violence.
