BOGRA: A Juba League activist was killed in a clash between two groups over establishing supremacy in Fultala area of Shahjahanpur upazila of the district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Ranju Pramanik, 40, son of late Shukur Ali of the area.

Shahjahanpur Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Mannan said long-standing conflict between Mister and Majnu-Ranju groups over establishing supremacy in the area.

Over the matter, the rival group attacked Ranju around 4:45pm. They chopped him indiscriminately, leaving him injured critically.

Locals rushed the injured to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

The OC said both the deceased and the people of the rival group were the activists of the Juba League. Many of them are accused in several cases.

Bogra district Juba League organizing secretary Qamrul Morshed Apel confirmed that Ranju was an activist of the party.

But, the incident took place over establishing supremacy, not on political issue, he added.
