NILPHAMARI: Blockaders allegedly vandalized a car of a ruling Awami League (AL) district unit cultural secretary Arifa Sultana in Syedpur Upazila of the district on Sunday night.

Police, however, detained two Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activists from the area after the incident.

The detainees are: Nur Islam, 28, and Hafij, 35.

Sources told banglanews that the incident took place at that area around 9:30pm while Arifa, also the vice chairman of Sadar Upazila, was returning home at Sadar Upazila Complex from Syedpur.

Arifa, regarding the matter, said that the blockaders suddenly attacked on me.

“Miscreants hurled a good number of brick-chips to my car leaving it seriously damaged,” she added.

Syedpur Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ismail Hossian, confirming the matter, said that the AL leader’s driver Monir Hossain, after the incident, filed a case with the police station.

Later, the law enforcers have already detained two people for their alleged involvement in the attack, he added.
