COX’S BAZAR: Detective Branch (DB) of Police detained the district unit president of Islami Chhatra Shibir with arms from Tarabonia’s Chharar graveyard road area of the town Saturday night.

The detainee was identified as Zahedul Islam Noman, 24, son of late Abdus Samad of North Fulchhari area under Chakaria upazila.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Kazi Motiul Islam of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Thana told banglanews that, tipped off, the DB members conducted a drive in the area at night nabbed Noman with a native-made LG and three rounds of cartridges.

Noman is accused in six different cases related to carrying out sabotages in different areas of the town, he added.

District DB police sources said Noman was handed over to the Sadar thana police after a case had been filed against him under the arms act.
