Jubo Dal leader shot dead in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR: A local leader of Jubo Dal (JCD) was shot to death in a clash between villagers and law enforcers in Tulsipur area under Punoti union in Chirirbandar Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Rezwan, 25, a local Jubo Dal leader and son of local BNP leader Habibur Rahman.

Six others, including four police men, were injured as well in the clash, said Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chirirbandar Thana.

Punoti Union Parisad (UP) Chairman Atiar Rahman told banglanews that the law enforcers conducted an anti-sabotage drive in the area around 3:00pm and arrested Habibur Rahman on allegation of creating violence.

During the time, Rezwan along with villagers attacked police with lethal weapons in the area and tried to snatch his father, leaving four police men, including ASI Mostafijur Rahman, injured, the OC said.

Later, the law enforcers retaliated with four rounds of gunshots on self-defense, leaving Rezwan dead on the spot, he added.
