DHAKA: Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif claimed that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia wanted to snatch people’s right to vote halting January 5 national election.
He made the accusation in a press conference in AL president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi area on Friday.
The incumbent government arranged the press conference in response of immediate reaction of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s press conference held in the afternoon.
Hanif said the BNP chief had created sabotage across the country before 2014’s January 5 national election. The cadres of 20 party alliance including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami began killing and vandalism in educational institutions by the order of Khaleda Zia.
The BNP chief could be stand on trial according to the accusations, he added.
Hanif also alleged “BNP denied the election as their accompany Jamaat-e-Islami could not be able to participate in the election and now they are creating violence in the country.”
AL office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain, Dr Dipu Moni, among others, were present in the conference.
