FROM GULSHAN: Two alleged Chhatra Dal activists were detained from in front of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s political office in city’s Gulshan area on Tuesday.

The detainees were identified as Nasir Uddin Ahmed and Jewel Khan, students of International University of Bangladesh (IUB) and hail from Hatiya upazila of Noakhali.

They claimed themselves as activists of Dhaka Metropolitan Chhatra Dal unit.

The detainees told media that they came in front of the BNP chairperson’s political office carrying food for Khaleda Zia.

They also said “We bring food as our leader did not take any food. It is not a crime rather our democratic rights.”

The law enforcers nabbed them from the area around 1:45pm.

Demanding people’s franchise and restoration of democracy, Khaleda Zia has been staying in her political office from January 3.

The country is also facing blockade from January 6 and hartal from January 15.
