JOYPURHAT: A local leader of ruling Awami League (AL) was electrocuted in Panchbibi Upazila of the district on Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Badsha, 35, son of Ibrahim Hossain of Nandi village of the upazila. He was a member of the convening committee of Mohammadpur Union unit Awami League.

Family sources said Badsah came in contact with a live electric wire of a submersible pump at a field of the village, leaving him critically injured.

He succumbed to his injuries on his way to the Upazila Health Complex.

Panchbibi Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal confirmed the matter to banglanews.
