DHAKA: The Supreme Court Appellate Division asked defense lawyers to complete their argument for death-row convict Salauddin Qauder Chowdhury by Tuesday. 

Defense lawyers placed argument before the Applegate Division bench headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha on Monday for second day.

Lawyer SM Shahjahan placed his argument for Salauddin while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the state.

On June 16, the appeal hearing started at the four-member Appellate Division bench.

The other members of the SC bench are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique.

On October 1 of 2013, International Crime Tribunal (ICT)-1 handed down death sentence to the former BNP parliamentarian for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.

S Q Chowdhury appealed to the Supreme Court on October 29 seeking acquittal of all charges.
