DHAKA: A city court on Thursday awarded life term imprisonment to two convicted in Bikalpa Dhara leader Masum murder case.

The Speedy Trial Tribunal no-1 Judge Shahed Noor Uddin passed the verdict.

The two convicts are Shahadat and Babul. However, Shahadat is fugitive.

The court also fined Tk 50,000 each, in default, one year more in jail.

The 20 other accused of the case were acquitted from the charge as the plaintiff failed to produce any proof against them.

According to the case statement, on June 7 in 2013, some miscreants killed Masum at a procession of the Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh leader Mahi B Chowdhury and injured Sheikh Abdullah Al Mamun severely.

Later, Mamun filed a case with Sreenagar Thana of Munshiganj.
