DHAKA: President M Abdul Hamid has invited 21 top leaders of BNP, including its chairperson Khaleda Zia, to attend a program marking Independence and National Day on March 26.

Invitation letters of the President have been delivered to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan political office on Wednesday noon.

Signed by Bangabhaban protocol officer Sheikh Russell, the letters were carried by two persons named Anwar Hossain and Rafiqul Islam and handed over to Khaleda Zia’s press wing member Shamsuddin Didar.

However, Khaleda Zia has been staying at her Gulshan office since January 3 from where she announced an indefinite countrywide blockade, imposed from January 5.
