DHAKA: Law enforcers held at least 77 persons, including 20 leaders and activists, in drives conducted in Jessore, Chittagong and Bogra districts on Wednesday.
Police arrested 55 persons conducting drives in Jessore.
Jessore district police control room sources said that the drives, starting from Tuesday midnight, ended on Wednesday morning.
The arrestees, who are accused in several cases, will be produced before the court, the sources added.
Moreover, police detained nine leaders-activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami from different upazilas of Chittagong district for their alleged link in sabotages.
During the overnight drive, the law enforcers rounded up three each from BNP, Jamaat and its student wing Chhatra Shibir from Sitakunda, Satkania and Lohagara upazilas, said Mohammd Naimul Hasan, additional superintendent of police.
Police has been conducting drives across the district to nab suspected anarchists in a bid to avert subversive activities during indefinite blockade called by BNP-Jamaat alliance.
Meanwhile, 11 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir were arrested in sabotage cases in Bogra.
Bogra assistant police super (ASP) and also media cell official (in-charge) Gaziur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said that law enforcers including Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted drives in different areas of the district from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning and arrested 11 persons accused in sabotage cases.
