Khaleda returns court summons

DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday returned four summon letters, sent by a Dhaka court addressing her and three other family members in Dandy Dyeing Ltd loan default case.

Three others are Khaleda’s younger son late Arafat Rahman Koko’s wife Sharmila Rahman and two daughters Zafia Rahman and Zahia Rahman, who are now in Malaysia.

M Akabr of the city’s Gulasha-2 post officer brought four letters to Khaleda’s Gulshan office around 2:15pm on the day.

BNP chief's press wing member Shamsuddin Didar received the letters and took them inside the office. After some moments, those letters were returned to the postman.

As Koko died on January 25, the court made the four people defendants in the case filed by state-owned Sonali Bank over a loan default amounting to Tk 45 crores.

On March 22, Acting Judge Roksan Akter Happy of Money Loan Court-1 issued the summons asking the defendants to respond either personally or through their counsels by April 12.
