CHITTAGONG: The BNP leaders of Chittagong unit on Thursday afternoon called for united campaigns so that the incumbent Chittagong city mayor M Manjur Alam can be reelected.

Earlier on Wednesday, they gave support to mayor candidate M Manjur Alam in Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) election under the banner of ‘Chattagram Unnayan Andolan’, a BNP-back organization of teachers, professionals and intellectuals.

BNP central vice-president Abdullah Al Noman and Chittagong metropolitan unit BNP president Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury urged the BNP leaders and activists to campaign for Manjur maintaining unity.

The two senior leaders made the urge in a meeting at Khasru’s residence in Mehedibagh area of the port city on Thursday.

A committee has also been formed ahead of the election selecting Noman and Khasru as main poll agents.
