DHAKA: BNP presidium member, also Dhaka city unit convener, Mirza Abbas on Friday joined the mayoral race in the upcoming Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls, slated to be held on April 28.

On behalf of the BNP leader, Advocate Shahjahan collected the nomination paper from DSCC returning officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed at Mahanagar Natya Manch in the city’s Gulistan area this morning.

Earlier, BNP economic affairs secretary Abdus Salam and assistant organizing secretary Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu separately collected nomination papers to run for the DSCC mayoral race.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad announced the election schedule for two city corporations on March 18.

Polls at Dhaka’s two city corporations are scheduled to be held on April 28 while the last date of nomination paper submission is March 29.
