MOLVIBAZAR: The local administration imposed section 144 in Juri upazila of the district as two rival groups of Awami League (AL) called a meeting at the same venue at the same time on Friday.

The ban has been imposed from 12:00pm and will continue till 12:00am Saturday to avoid untoward situation, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Shahidul Islam.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Juri Thana Hamidur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said, over the by-election in the upazila on March 29, AL supported candidate Badrul Hossain and AL revel candidate Gulshan Ara Mili called the meeting.
