DHAKA: BNP-led 20-party alliance demanded the government and Election Commission (EC) as well for free and fair elections in Dhaka and Chittagong.

A press release signed by BNP joint secretary general Barkatullah Bulu made the demand on Monday.

According to the statement, the nation and the alliance hoped that the upcoming elections in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Chittagong City Correspondent (CCC) will be held free and fair.

If the government takes shelter to vote rigging and if the EC helps the ruling AL in this connection, then the nation will never forgive the duo, the statement added.

It also demanded the safe return of BNP’s ‘missing’ joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed.
