DHAKA: The Election Commission declared a total of 41 candidates eligible for contesting mayoral posts in the bifurcated Dhaka City Corporations (DCCs) elections scheduled to be held on April 28.

DSCC retuning officer (RO) Mihir Sarwar Morshed and DNCC Returning Officer Shah Alam separately confirmed the matter to banglanews on Wednesday.

Among them, 23 mayoral candidates were declared eligible to vie for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 19 others for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

Of the mayoral aspirants, Mirza Abbas of BNP and Sayed Khokon of Awami League (AL) will run for DSCC while Anisul Haque of AL and Mahi B Chowdhury of Bikolpo Dhara Bangladesh will contest for DNCC mayoral post.

Election to Dhaka’s two city corporations is scheduled to be held on April 28. Aspirants can withdraw their candidature till April 9.
