DHAKA: Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to take initiative to resume proceedings of the case filed against Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, for concealing wealth information.
The anti-graft watchdog will file a petition with the High Court to fix a date for hearing on stay order and rule.
ACC lawyer M Khurshid Alam Khan told banglanews that the High Court approved ACC as a party in the case on April 2. Now the commission will file a petition with the court on Sunday or Monday to fix a date for hearing on stay order and rule issued in the case.
The HC bench of Justice Mohammad Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice JBM Hasan passed the order after the hearing on the petition to be a party in the case.
On September 27, 2007, the ACC filed a case with Kafrul Police Station against Tarique and his wife Zubaida and mother-in-law Iqbalmand Banu for concealing information of properties worth over Tk 4.23-crore in his wealth statement submitted to the ACC earlier.
Later of that year, the HC stayed the case proceedings following a petition filed by Tarique’s wife.
