DHAKA: Hasan Iqbal Warsi, elder son of death row convict war criminal Mohammad Kamaruzzaman, Monday said his father will be buried at their family graveyard in Sherpur if he is executed.
The top war criminal hails from Mudipara village of Bajitkhola union under Sherpur sadar upazila. His burial will be held there, according to his son.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Monday upheld the death penalty to war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman rejecting his review petition.
The four-member bench of the appellate division led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha pronounced the verdict on the review petition filed challenging the death penalty for the war crimes convict.
Hasan Iqbal also termed the rejection of review petition as government-advised verdict. So, the court ignored our all arguments, evidences we placed before it. The verdict is the reflection of the wishes of government, he alleged.
The jail authority is yet to inform us about meeting with his father, said Hagan Iqbal adding “We will not lake any step to meet him but when jail authority asked us we must meet him.”
