GAZIPUR: A Gazipur court on Monday placed Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) mayor Professor MA Mannan on a one-day remand in a case filed over killing a bus helper by setting fire to the bus at Kaliakoir Thana area.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Rehena Akhtar passed the remand order when police produced mayor Mannan before the court around 12:30pm.

However, police arrested Mannan from his residence in Dhaka on February 12 and sent him to the court showing arrested in three cases.

Later, he was shown arrested in two more cases.

Earlier, the court placed Mannan on a two-day remand in an arson attack case filed with Joydebpur Police Station.
