DHAKA: BNP is going to withdraw its prevailing nationwide blockade to topple the incumbent government and to ensure a national poll under nonpartisan caretaker government.
Party sources said that they want to refrain from more enforcing shutdown and blockade to get mass support in the upcoming city corporation elections.
The sources further said that party people could not involve themselves in the ongoing movement. On the other hand, hundreds of them have been accused in vandalism and arson cases across the country.
BNP, now, will work to ensure the winning of its contenders in the city polls as well as to provide legal assistance to party leaders and activists, who are accused in various cases, the sources added.
Moreover, the party’s high-command has decided to come forth for legal fights against the cases. Even then, there is also a decision that the party will provide expenditures in fighting the cases.
According to the sources, the high-command hopes that the new decisions will help party people encourage to be active in anti-government movements.
