DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) will allocate symbols to the candidates of upcoming three city corporation elections on Friday.

A total of 48 candidates will fight for mayoral post including 16 contestants from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 20 from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 12 from Chittagong City Corporation (CCC).

The returning officers will allot the election symbol as per candidates’ choice. But, there will be a lottery if two or more candidates choice same symbol.

EC Public Relations (PR) officer SM Asaduzzaman said the returning officers will allocate the symbol from 10:00am to 5:00pm in National Local Government Institute for DNCC polls, Metropolitan Drama Stage in Gulistan for DSCC and Chittagong’s Muslim Institute for CCC.

In this polls, EC will allocate 30 new symbol as the candidates’ number increased than symbols.

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Chittagong City Corporation will be held On April 28.
