Police to play neutral role in city polls

DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Mohammad Asaduzzaman Mia assured pro-BNP lawyers that police will play a neutral role in upcoming Dhaka North and South city corporation polls.

He gave the assurance while an eight-member team, led by BNP joint secretary general Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon met the commissioner on Saturday noon.

Barrister Mahbub told the media after the meeting.

Mahbub said that they sought assurance to the commissioner that police will not harass the BNP people during poll campaigns.

The DMP commissioner assured us, the BNP leader added.

However, the commissioner informed the visiting team about the progress of finding out missing BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed, while the team asked the police boss regarding the matter.
