DINAJPUR: Two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of incumbent Awami League, were killed and 10 others injured in infighting at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Milton, 26, and Zakaria, 29, while details of the injured could not be known immediately.
 
Witnesses said a faction of HSTU Chhatra League unit led by its banned president and general secretary Iftekhar Ahmed Riyel and Arun Kumar Roy Siton occupied Nur Hossain Hall around 9:30pm.

On information, another faction led by joint general secretary Jemy and Palash entered the campus around 10pm and locked into a clash that continued for around two and half of an hour.

Chhatra League activist Milton was killed on the spot while critically injured Zakaria succumbed to his injuries at hospital. Another 10 were injured in the incident.

Dinajpur Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Hasnat told banglanews that they fired rubber bullets and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.

While talking to banglanews, both Iftekhar Ahmed Riyel and Jemy blamed each other for the incident.

Additional police forces have been deployed on the campus, said the OC.
