DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to participate in celebration program of ‘Pahela Baishakh’, first day Bangla New Year, to be organized by Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas), at Nayapaltan on Tuesday.
Chairperson’s press wing officer Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews on Monday afternoon.
He further said the cultural wing of BNP, Jasas, will celebrate ‘Pahela Baishakh’ as in the previous years in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office on Tuesday afternoon.
BNP chief Khaleda Zia along with several central leaders will attend the program around 4:00pm.
However, Khaleda Zia returned her residence on April 5 after staying at her Gulshan political office for 92 days at a stretch.
On April 13, she was expected to attend a program, set to be organized in introducing BNP-backed mayoral and councilor candidates of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls.
The BNP chief cancelled the program due to daylong hartal, enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami protesting the execution of death sentence against war criminal Jamaat leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
