DHAKA: BNP-backed Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) poll contender Mirza Abbas’ wife Afroza Abbas categorically said that there is no possibility of their withdrawal from the upcoming elections.
She made the comment to the media during poll campaigns on Thursday morning.
Terming the rumor of withdrawal a ruling Awami League propaganda, Afroza said, ‘We are not afraid of government repression. People are staying with us. So, there is no possibility to skip polls.’
The BNP leader’s wife reiterated the deployment of army with judicial power in their hand and installation of close circuit (CC) cameras at the poll centers.
In response to a query, she said, ‘We are demanding army deployment as we are apprehending vote rigging. We want people to cast their votes freely’.
However, the city corporation elections in Dhaka and Chittagong are set to be held on April 28.
