DHAKA: Police on Friday arrested BNP-supported councilor contender of Ward No-15 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DNCC) Abul Khayer Babul.

He was picked up by law enforcers from in front of Hazaribagh Tali office of the city during the poll campaign around 10:30am.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hazaribagh Thana Kazi Mainul Hossin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that Abul Khayer, also the former Commissioner, was warranted accused.  Son he was arrested.

He was also accused in three cases filed with Dhanmondi Thana, the OC added.
