FROM MAHANAGAR NATYAMANCHA: A group of candidates of mayoral, councilor and reserved female councilor posts reached the office of Returning Officer of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in Mahanagar Natyamancha in city with complaints of irregularities.

At least 30 complaints were received till 4:00pm on Tuesday.

Most of the complaints came from BNP-backed and independent candidates.

They brought allegations of beating polling agents, barring voters from casting votes, fake balloting and occupation of vote centers.

BNP-backed DSCC mayoral contender Mirza Abbas’ wife Afroza Abbas, in the written complaint, said that members and associates of ruling Awami League and its affiliates Jubo League and Chhatra League beat Abbas’ polling agents and handed over them to police.

The complaints added that the AL cadres forcefully cast votes occupying several poll centers.
