DHAKA: The unofficial results of all 36 wards in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls have been declared early Wednesday.

According to the unofficial results of 889 voting centers, ruling Awami League-endorsed candidates won 20 councilor posts.

While BNP-backed candidates got only two posts amid boycott and independent candidates have won 14 councilor posts.

The results were received from the DSCC Chief Returning Officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed’s make-shift office at Mahanagar Natyamancha at Gulistan in city.

Of total 1,870,753 voters in 57 wards of DSCC, 1,009,286 are male and 861,467 female voters.

A total of 390 general councilors, 97 reserved councilors and 20 mayoral candidates are vying in the DSCC elections.

Earlier on Tuesday, voting of DSCC, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) polls started at 8:00am and ended at 4:00pm amid stray incidents of violence, alleging and counter alleging and quitting elections by BNP and some other parties.
