I won’t endure corruption: DSCC mayor

DHAKA: Newly elected mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sayeed Khokon on Saturday categorically said he would not tolerate any corruption in the city corporation’s development activities.

Sayeed Khokon made the assertions while addressing a reception program, organized by DSCC, to the newly elected mayors and councilors at Mahanagar Natya Mancha.

He also warned the DSCC officials saying no recommendation would be granted; rather actions will be taken against the person. He also talked against nepotism and favoritism.

Sayeed Khokon also thanked the residents of Dhaka and lauded the non-communal festive environment that the city-dwellers show.

The DSCC mayor also said as a mayor, he has started from scratch as the city corporation has a loan of Tk 205 crore whereas there is no money in the fund.

He also vowed to ensure clarity and accountability in the city corporation’s works.

Earlier, DSCC chief executive Ansar Ali Khan welcomed Sayeed Khokon with a bouquet.

Several councilors, local Awami League leaders and cultural organizations’ persons were present in the program.
