DHAKA: Police foiled the progressive student front organized gherao program of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) office on Sunday.

However, the besiege program was organized protesting the sexual assault on women in city’s TSC area during the Bangla New Year celebration on Pahela Baishakh.

Following their previously announced besiege program, the protesting student organizations marched to the DMP office in city’s Minto Road area.

Police barricaded the students on the road and charged batons indiscriminately leaving scores injured.

The protesters demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and demonstrated against the failure of Dhaka University administration in ensuring security to area and the law enforcers in arresting the assaulters.
