Mojaheed appeal arguments adjourned Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed

DHAKA: The Supreme Court adjourned until Tuesday the hearing arguments over the convicted war criminal Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed’s appeal for his acquittal of all the charges.

The four-member bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice SK Sinha heard the arguments on Monday, the seventh day of appeal hearing.

The other members of the bench are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, and Justice Hassan Foyez Siddique.

Mojaheed’s lawyer Shahjahan placed his argument in the day.

Earlier on April 29, Defense counsels started reading out the paperbook of the appeal in the first day of hearing.

The defense lawyer concluded reading out the paperbook On May 18, the sixth day of appeal hearing. 

Lawyer SM Shahjahan moved for Mojaheed while Shishir Monir assisted him.

On July 17 in 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced the Jamaat leader to death in connection with three charges, jailed him for life in one and sentenced him to five years in prison in another charge.

Later on August 11, Mojaheed filed the appeal with the apex court challenging the death penalty on charges of crimes against humanity.
